Artist Statement:

Sunset Pals incorporates one of my all-time favorite natural elements - the setting sun. I have taken more photographs of the sunset than anything else, only second to cloudy skies. Sunset Pals is a part of my 'Pals' Series, which features a Dog and Cat sitting together. I paired the 'Pals' to express how close friends can form from the most unexpected places. 

Creating cloud figures is an homage to my childhood pastime of creating figures in the clouds - with my imagination. While unintentional at first, one of the clouds closely resembled a whale. I added an eye to the cloud to tie the ocean and sky.
